Baby Madison Wiki

The Baby Madison label was created by Mason Ewing in April 2021. Its main objective is to highlight organizations hosting minors that meet certain specifications.

History[]

Context[]

In France, since the end of the 2010s, the Aide Sociale à l'Enfance (ASE - Child Welfare service) has been targeted by accusations of abuse and interference. It was also accused of kicking out young people as soon as they turned 18 by refusing many of the "Young Adult Contracts," which provides fina

ncial aid and assistance. At that time, nearly 25% of the homeless population were young people from the ASE.

After a news broadcast on France 2 TV denounced this system, President Emmanuel Macron appointed Adrien Taquet as Secretary of State on January 25, 2019. He will be in charge of dealing with this problem.

However, public opinion continues to point out the failures of the French government. During this period, the child care system underwent several changes. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the conditions under which children are housed by the French child welfare system have been denounced. Many of the young people hosted by this organization lose faith in their future, as shown in a second news report broadcast by France 2 TV in 2021.

In 2020, SOS Madison International created the "Solidarity with Renters" project, which aims to help young people leaving the ASE and orphanages around the world so that they do not end up on the streets.

Creation[]

At the end of 2020, SOS Madison International is looking into creating a label with the following objectives:

  • Preventing abrupt exits from the child welfare system (so there will be continued oversight and assistance of these youths until their education is completed or they obtain their first long-term job)
  • Prevent abuse and sexual assault in all agencies serving children.

The action, led by Mason Ewing and his team, is supported by the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.
